The Key To Supply

Therefore, take no thought, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ (For the Gentiles seek after all these things.) For your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be given to you. MATTHEW 6:3-33 MEV

Jesus here is teaching us the secret of supply, so long sought by billions.

It is NOT put God and His work first. Neither is it pay God first out of your income. Both are noble concepts but are definitively not the secret to supply.

The secret is so simple you could miss it easy. Like many things, you can over-think it.

It is exactly what Jesus said it is.

Seek first the Kingdom of God and supply will be yours.

Now if you start to think about the Kingdom in castle-in-the-air, misty-eyed terms or as kumbaya singing round the campfire with your Jesus sandals on, you are way off beam. Very often we think we are being “Kingdom-minded” but all we are doing is creating a fantasy escape realm in our mind.

When Jesus is speaking about the Kingdom here He is simply referring to the DOMINION or RULE of God. In other words, He is telling us to be DOMINION-MINDED.

It’s the same when He tells us to seek God’s righteousness. He is not talking about moral perfection but about the old-fashioned sense of righteousness i.e. that we have the right or entitlement to something. We would call this rightstanding.

If you are in rightstanding with a king, you have the right to be blessed by that king.

Jesus is simply saying that we need to seek first i.e. beforehand that we have the right to supply. If we do, then that right gives us AUTHORITY to exercise DOMINION.

Look at when God created man:-

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the livestock, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
So God created man in His own image;
in the image of God He created him;
male and female He created them. GENESIS 1:26,27 MEV

It is interesting that God’s expectation of the man made in His likeness is that mankind walk in dominion. Dominion is the attribute of God that is foremost in His thinking and the thing God looks for in us.

Jesus is saying that supply comes to us when we walk in the likeness of God by exercising DOMINION. Our right to supply comes from our God-given authority to rule over the earth we live in. Rather than serve mammon and be subject to worry and fear, we are to demand supply from the earth by taking heavenly authority over this world.

Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 1 JOHN 4:17,18 KJV

Perfect love casts out fear. Serving mammon is all about living in fear and worrying about where supply will come from. So perfect love is the key to kicking mammon out and serving God. Note that love is perfected by immersing ourselves in the consciousness that as He is, so are we in this world. This perfectly ties in with what we read in Genesis chapter 1.

To put it in a nutshell, to experience supply we must remember who we are. We are made in God’s image and likeness and are to be incarnations of Him just as Jesus was. As He has AUTHORITY and DOMINION, so do we. We are kings and priests exercising rulership in His Name and by His mandate.

Walking in dominion is the key to receiving supply. That is why we must pursue the knowledge and consciousness of who we are in Him and walk in this.

The more you know who you are and the AUTHORITY and DOMINION that is yours, the more you can walk in His never-failing supply!
